The artist Bettina Brahmi was born in Vienna, Austria. Even as a young child, she was fond of drawing and scribbling on the walls of her room. After attending the Gymnasium, she decided to attend the secondary school for fashion and clothing technology in Vienna. During this time, she discovered her love for textile art. After graduating from school, she studied at the academy of fine arts in Vienna with specializing on textile design (Prof. Schulz). In addition, she studied art history as well as cultural and social anthropology. After that, she completed the training for textile restorer in only two years with distinction. While raising her children, art had not been her highest priority, but now she is very actively painting as well as producing embroidered pictures made out of silk threads or metallic gold and silver threads. In order to get new inspiration, she attended painting classes given by Udo Hohenberger and Mag. art. Beate Wagner. Her paintings as well as her embroidered pictures are inspired by her other great hobby, travelling. Her experiences abroad and contact with foreign cultures is reflected in her paintings. Bettina Brahmi is living near Vienna.
Pictures in acrylic and mixing techniques on canvas
Her pictures are a result of work in progress. Her paintings mostly intuitively and mirror her own ideas. Some of her pictures emerge completely spontaneous, while others have to be painted over and over again, whereby the underlying paint layers partly shine through. Due to other materials combined on the canvas, she creates special structures. Archaic forms and patterns characterize most of her paintings.
Water-colour paintings
Her water-colour paintingsalso emanate from the creative imagination, even though photos from her travels sometimes serve as inspiration.
Embroidered pictures
Her passion for textile materials is reflected by her embroidered pictures. Her abstract pictures emerge spontaneously through inspiration and during the embroidery process. DE
